Enter the Bibliotheka...

You stand before a massive, ancient-looking wooden doors. Your eyes trail the curves of the relief-covered arches, the stone columns stained by time, and finally return to the once mahogany door, its surface covered in iron studs. You take a step towards the doors, when suddenly, a creak freezes you in place. The right wing of the doors slowly opens, revealing only oozing darkness. Then, as if in your heart, you hear a whisper.
"Come inside, child..."
Unsure of what to expect, you slowly step forward. As you pass the columns, you feel as if the eyes of the sculpted heads were watching you. You snap your head to the side, trying to catch the movement, and you think that with a corner of your eye, you saw one of them blink. Wary, you enter the cold darkness.

You enter...

As soon as you hear the heavy door shut behind you, the darkness disappears and you stand before a vast room illuminated with golden light. The direct sunlight blinds you, and you shrink away. You feel a little push and hear an old woman's voice.
"Welcome to our Bibliotheka. Come now, child, this way..."
You turn around and look at her. She is much shorter then you, shrunken by age, her skin pale, her white hair escaping from the bun at the nape of her neck. Deep lines surround her mouth and eyes, pale eyes, that have seen more then any other human's. She ushers you into a small corridor between the bookshelves, at the end of which there is small wooden door. She takes a large iron key and opens it, stepping aside to let you in.

...

You find yourself in a cold, smaller chamber, filled with books much older then you could guess. The light is dim, and doesn't bother you anymore. You spin around, and face the old lady. You open your mouth wanting to say something, but before you can, she speaks.
" So I expect you came here for answers... Let us begin with the simplest matters. You must be wondering who am I...? My name is Celestine, and I am the Head Librarian here."
She paused, and a melancholy smile entered her face. Then she begun walking down the chamber, and you followed.
" That is all you need to know about me, for now... So, tell me, what is it that you would like to learn about? Our world? Vampires? Therians? I assume you know enough about humans by now."

More about Neorth...
" Tell me about our world," you answer. The lady nods to herself, and thinks for a moment, before beginning.
" Yes... I suppose that is a good place to start. Come, lets sit down, here. Good, good. So, you'd like to know more about our world... Very well.
As you must know, since the '40s of the second Millennium, we often call it Neorth. Do you know what that means? Neorth is a combination of two words, neo, which in Latin means 'new', and Earth. Our planet was christened this way by many after some revolutionary, for humans, discoveries, took place. Humans have come in contact with creatures that once were only believed an invention of the human imagination... Vampires and therians, to name the most important ones.
They existed in our world far longer then any of us have ever guessed... Both races were most notably known in the Middle Ages, but that attention proved dangerous for them, and so, they have shrunk to mere myths and superstitions. They begun resurfacing again around the year 2034, but it took a decade for some to open their eyes.
Today, in the year 2137, our planet is consumed in chaos... Many governments, have tried silencing people who spoke of vampires and therians, or other such creatures. Churches roar about the Judgement Day. People slowly lose faith.
Vampire activity increased in the past few decades, and as a result, so did therian. I guess we can't blame people for being so tense, can we? All those unsolved crimes and deaths... They're scared. And all their fundamental beliefs are falling apart. Just think about it... Having to throw away what they believed in their whole lives, what their ancestors believed in for centuries...
Well, most live by the rule 'Ignorance is bliss' these days. The younger people seem to rebel against this way of life, though. They're too curious for their own good. They want to believe AND brush against this new world. For many, it ends in death. So many seduced by the vampire charm practically walk into their open arms.
For vampires, it is an easy age to live in. Although all of the Clans still forbid their children from being too bold, many rebel against the rules. They're excited... However, the punishments are severe. Not all are caught, of course.
Therians are furious. The vampires are becoming too bold, many going out of their ways. It makes it harder for them to hunt them silently. And unfortunately, humans don't realize yet that they're their protectors. It makes it all the harder...
But I'm getting a little carried away here. Would you like to hear more about vampires or therians?"
